Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday in Abuja inaugurated the 2021 Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey MICS and National Immunisation Coverage Survey NICS Report.  NAN reports that the National Bureau of Statistics NBS implemented MICS in 1995 aimed at providing data on child mortality, health, nutrition, education, child and social protection, women's health care and empowerment, water, sanitation and hygiene.  The vice president said the present administration had continued to make efforts to ensure the gaps reported in the last MICS survey in 2016 were addressed.  He said this had led to massive investment in the health care sector with particular emphasis on primary health care delivery and immunisation coverage.  The government will continue to provide the necessary support to all sectors, particularly maternal health care.  Osinbajo said there had been evident improvement in the immunisation coverage from 34 per cent in 2016 to 57 per cent as reported in ...

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested a syndicate of seven suspected internet fraudsters in the nation’s capital, FCT. A statement issued on the Commission’s Twitter page said the suspects were arrested on August 12, 2020, in a sting operation at Tunlapal Estate, Kurudu, Abuja. They were identified as Nnonyelu Favour Chioma, Ajator Henry Sopulu, Ego Andy Seji, Okeke Ikechukwu Jude, Oshioriamite Perfect, and Ego Akin. Items recovered from them include mobile phones and computer devices. The anti-graft agency added that they will be arraigned in court as soon as the investigation is concluded.

Governor Matawalle  Zamfara State Government has has signed a new law that approves death penalty for anyone convicted for banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling, cultism, or serving as a bandits’ informant in the state Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle disclosed this in a broadcast on Tuesday morning. According to the Zamfara Governor, the new law is one of the measures adopted by his administration to tackle the act of terrorism experienced in the state and the northwestern region in general. Matawalle expressed optimism that despite the pockets of attacks recorded here and there by bandits in the state recently, the latest measures are already yielding the intended results.
