FEC approved 580.5M to NDLEA

 The Federal Executive Council has approved the sum of N580.5 million for the purchase of four armoured vehicles for use by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).



Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, said the decision to procure armored vehicles is part of efforts to encourage law enforcement officers and also safeguard the lives of NDLEA personnel who have been working very hard with lots of results to show for their effort.

A contract for the reconstruction of the Ido-ani road linking Ondo state to Edo state was also approved.

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed disclosed that 27 billion naira was approved for this project which will be completed in 27 months.

The Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment also got approval for the second phase of the Nigerian Sugar Master Plan (NSMP).

The sugar master plan seeks to among other things boost local production of the commodity to meet consumption demand locally and export to earn foreign exchange.

According to statistics, Nigeria has spent more than 400 billion naira to import Sugar between the second quarter of last year and the first quarter of this year.

Security forces apprehended a middle-aged woman, Aisha Abubakar, from Katsina State, while she was on a bus traveling to Abuja from Katsina. The woman was found in possession of a stolen AK-47 rifle, prompting her arrest. Tragedy at the National Assembly: Customs Officer Passes Away

Tragedy struck at the National Assembly on Tuesday when a senior officer of the Nigeria Customs Service passed away during a meeting with a House Committee. According to a statement released by House Spokesman Akin Rotimi, the officer suddenly fell ill at approximately 1 pm and despite prompt medical attention from first responders and the National Assembly Clinic's medical team, sadly succumbed to his condition.
