One thing which has been of the greatest concern today is, when, where and how will a common citizen just like you and I can have access to qualitative education in Nigeria? Be it from the universities polytechnics or any other institutions of learning.
Basically, I refrained myself from commenting and intervening on any controversial educational tension as much as possible. But by considering the kind of unsuccessful and mischievous vein that conveys the plasma for the negotiations between FGN and ASUU, is entirely unstrategic and rigorous to comprehend both the parties.
From 1999 till-date, ASUU has been consistently declaring warning and indefinite strikes in this country, in order to fight for the betterment of tertiary educational sector in Nigeria. The bastardized nature of educational sector in the country was the major reason behind these perpetual strikes by ASUU almost annually. All the struggles and sacrifices by ASUU members, students and others is toward the efficacy in revitalizing, rejuvenating and upgrading of our educational system so as to meets global standards. Unfortunately, both the parties finds it difficult to reconcile their drescrepancies to arrive at front line of action .
Similarly, there is clear difference between "FALLING AND JUMPING " when you fall is unintentional and when you jump is typically sensible and planned. At this point in time, someone can not be jumping in thesame hole without making any progress and keep on repeating it continously. There is a greatest need of restrategizing.
If I were ASUU, by this time from 1999, I could have accomplished and secure the about 60% of the demands. A new born baby can't crowl and run at the same he/she most undergo series of steps before completing to an adult stage. In my personal opinion, ASUU should face the really about some of its unrealistic demands.
In addition, ASUU's demands should be flexible enough for government to meet it, and FG has to be very considerate, and responsible in signing any MOU with ASUU in order to rescue the stigmatised future of Nigerian students with all senses of responsibility.
To my fellow students of Nigerian public universities, your high level of endurance and perseverance should be a determiner of how successful you're about to be at this excruciating pain in time. I would advice you to engage yourself in skill acquisitions and small scale businesses to standardise and improve your living atmosphere.
In conclusion, I would recommend both parties i.e ASUU and FG to look considerably at how desperate Nigerian public universities students are, and do the needful in oder to ensure they resume back to class rooms. Because neither the ASUU not the FG bear the consequences, but students are always on the receiving end because there is no single provision for compensation .meanwhil, students body has to put modalities on ground to fight for students compensation, for the westages and damages resulting from the strike action.
