4000 AD HOC STAFF TRAINED IN KARU LGA


National Population Commission (NPC) has trained 4000 ad hoc staff in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State to facilitate trial census in the area. NPC Federal Commissioner for Nasarawa State, Mr Silas Agara, made this known at a town hall meeting organized by the commission in the area. He explained that the activities of the fieldwork during the exercise include: building numbering and household listing from July 13 to July 15; validation of Enumeration Areas from July 16 to July 18; Person Enumeration from July 19 to July 25 and Enumeration mop up from July 26 to 30. Agara appealed for maximum support from residents of Karu Local Government Area to ensure a successful exercise. 



He said the 2023 exercise will be digitalised hence the need for the mock exercise to prepare the commission. Earlier, Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, who attended the town hall meeting, explained that he and the governor were very happy that Karu was one of the six local government areas across the country chosen by the commission for a full population enumeration and called on people in the area to support the commission in making the exercise a success. On his part, the Etsu Karu, Luka Panya-Baba, commended the NPC for choosing Karu as one of the local government areas to carry out the mock census and assured that all chiefs, district heads and other leaders in the area would be mandated to emphasise the importance of the exercise so people of the area can make themselves available to be counted.

Tragedy in Bukuru: Trader Killed, Two Injured in JMDB Task Force Operation

A tragic incident occurred in Bukuru, Jos South LGA, on Monday, resulting in the death of a trader, Nasiru Abubakar, and injuring two others. The incident happened during an enforcement operation by the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB) task force.
